We leave from the port of Sorrento and after about an hour we arrive in Ischia, the green island. We start with the visit of Barano and Serrara Fontana, to reach the volcanic peak that dominates the landscape of the island. After a short trip, enjoying the magnificent scenery, we arrive in Forio where we are going to visit the magnific gardens of "La Mortella". It is here that the famous English composer, Sir William Walton, began work on his opera "Troilus and Cressida." The English composer and his wife, fascinated by the beauty of the place and to escape the urban chaos in 1949, decided to buy the property on the hill Zaro. The gardens of "La Mortella", project of the English designer Russell Page, were built on a quarry since 1956. The garden covers an area of 16000 square meters, including thousands of rare plant specimens from all over the world, pools and fountains. Sir William Walton died in 1983, while his wife lived at La Mortella until 2010, when she death. After visiting "La Mortellla" Gardens, the tour continues through the towns of Ischia in Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno. Then Ischia Porto to the return by hydrofoil to Sorrento.
